After much hype and speculation, the long awaited iPhone finally launched on Monday to a fanfare of disappointment – at least from those expecting something from Apple anyway.
This particular iPhone portfolio comes from Linksys, the networking unit owned by Cisco, and is a family of VoIP devices for the home and small office.
Gadgets launched under the iPhone brand include a couple of wifi-enabled handsets that allow users to make Skype calls over their wireless network at home or via a hotspot whilst on the move. Some of the devices also pack full colour screens and allow access to music, photos and streaming video over the wireless network.
In fact, Linksys may have been trying to cash in on some of the iPhone hype, one of the devices, the WIP320 Wireless G phone, has a certain ‘iPod white’ colour to it.
