More flaws have appeared in Apple’s iPhone 5, with the device  failing to connect some US users to their wifi network and instead forcing them to use their monthly allowance of cellular data. Users have been unknowingly surpassing their data limits due to the fault.

Apple has acknowledged that customers on the Verizon network have been affected by the flaw, and has issued an update to repair the issue. It is unclear whether the issue affects any other operators’ customers.

Apple introduced support for 802.11n wifi technology in the iPhone 5, which supports speeds of up to 150 Mbps. It was one of few modest changes the firm made to the iPhone 4S device, along with the introduction of its own Maps function, which has attracted much criticism.
