Consumer electronics and high-end fashion have been involved in a torrid love affair for many seasons now. Their hot and heavy romance recently sired several designer phones that are so glam even a certain supermodel known for her diva-esque fits of violence would reconsider chucking one.
French jeweler Boucheron designed the "Signature Cobra" phone for Vertu, Nokia's luxury brand. With one pear-cut diamond, one round-cut diamond, two emerald snake eyes and 439 rubies, this phone is priced at $310,000. The ruby-free version, the "Signature Python," is available for $115,000.
On the less-expensive end of Vertu's offerings, you'll find the "Constellation," a stainless steel- and leather-encased phone with a sapphire crystal display. Popular in young celebrity circles, the Sidekick III ranges from $260 to $600. Crystal Icing designed the Swarvoski-encrusted customizable phones for T-mobile.
From televisions to fishing lures, gems are transforming everyday products into luxury goods. And high-end consumers are loving the designs as much as the features.
