European commissioner for information society and media, Viviane Reding, on Thursday rejected amendments to her roaming proposals from parliamentarians, describing them as too complicated.

Several amendments were put to the commissioner who is quoted by the Dow Jones newswire as saying that unless the proposals are kept simple they would “make room for lawyers to make business and not for industrial players to do business”.

The European Parliament must approve Reding’s proposals before it can be implemented and she has repeatedly said she would like to have the caps on roaming in place by summer. That goal may be stymied by a relentless campaign from the operator community which feels her caps go too far.
