With so much potential to revolutionise mobile communications, it’s arguable that no technology in the world is likely to have as much impact on the industry as LTE. So for anyone involved in this industry, attending the LTE World Summit 2011, running from 17-18th May at the RAI, Amsterdam, is of crucial importance.
Attendance at this year’s LTE World Summit, now in its seventh successive year, is expected to be more than twice that of last year’s event, with over 1,750 attendees. The show will attract an audience from every continent, drawing from 160 plus different operators and 110 plus countries around the world.
Indeed, 85 per cent of the top 100 global operators will have representatives in attendance and more than fifty per cent of those will be at director level or higher – so if you want to get face to face with someone to get the ball rolling on a project, this is the event to be at.
But if you just want to learn more about LTE in order to make a considered, educated decision on how to proceed with your LTE strategy, you can take your pick from more than 200 speakers including 100 operator case studies and 145 sessions split into 10 tracks across the two days. One thing you can be certain off is the opportunity to hear first hand advice and knowledge from those who have practical, hands on experience of LTE in real world deployments.
To give just a taster of the action packed programme; kicking off the event on day one will be Bart Weijermars, Managing Director, Deutsche Telekom, Netherlands, while Chris Kimm, vice president of global network field operations at Verizon, one of the first major operators to launch an LTE network, will also be speaking. Meanwhile, Vodafone, Verizon’s European partner, has also launched a major LTE network in Germany and its chief technology officer, Hartmut Kremling, will be leading the programme on day two.
Among the many other speaker highlights will be Seizo Onoe, managing director of R&D strategy for NTT DoCoMo, Japan and Andrea Folgueiras, chief technology officer for Telefónica Germany.
Hot topics are expected to be the burning issues around spectrum, regulation, multi-band support, harmonisation and management, as well as the real business case for developing LTE-focused business models. Major topics such as QoS, M2M, and LTE chipsets for handsets will also be covered as well as a sure-to-be-popular panel discussion on LTE Advanced.
Running alongside the World Summit is a completely free exhibition supported by many leading LTE exhibitors, such as Alcatel Lucent, Gemalto and Huawei.
The LTE master class gives you the opportunity to focus in depth on every issue affecting LTE, from intellectual property and pricing strategies, to the technical results of field trials.
For many though, the highlight of the whole event will surely be the LTE Awards 2011. Taking place at the De Duif Amsterdam on the evening of Tuesday 17 May – the event will celebrate innovation and excellence in the industry recognising the leading industry players, from companies to individuals.
