European backbone network operator Interoute has strengthened its offering in the cloud services space with the acquisition of UK-based Quantix. The purchase adds managed application services to Interoute’s unified computing and managed hosting portfolio, allowing the firm to manage international customers’ database applications, including Oracle and SQL, as a cloud based service.
Interoute has seen demand for cloud services is fuelling its growth, as organisations look for a secure and trusted environment to place their business critical assets. Earlier this year the company picked up a cloud based video calling platform in the shape of Scandinavia’s Visual Conference Group (VCG).
Gareth Williams, Interoute’s CEO, said of the deal, “Our strategy is based around providing customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and services from the Ground (infrastructure and connectivity) to the cloud (fully managed services hosted within the Interoute private cloud).”
